Coach Trip - June 9th - Ada extreme left
Jan 1st - Tuesday Got up 6.45 a.m. Went to work, did not go down so bad. Went up to the Co-op Hall, to a Tea and dance. Had a grand time. Got home about 11.0, Mother went.
Jan 2nd - Wednesday Got up 7.0 a.m. Went to work. Winnie came in to learn the Maxima. Played songs, she went about 7.45 p.m. Listen to the wireless, did some more knitting for June's Doll. Went to bed about 10.0 p.m.
Jan 3rd - Thursday Got up 7.5 a.m. Did some knitting. Went bed about 10.0 p.m.
Jan 4th - Friday Got up 7.0 a.m. Went down High Street. Listen to the wireless. Went bed about 9.45 p.m.
Jan 5th - Sat Got up 7.0 a.m. Kath and I went down High Street. Booked Theatre. Went Theatre to see "The Crime Doctor" - Otto Kruger. Very good. Turned in about 11.20 p.m.
Jan 6th - Sunday Got up about 10.0 a.m. Had breakfast. Cleared away and washed up. Washed myself and got ready. Went Sunday school. Had dinner. Went Chapel to hear the "Messiah". Went for a walk. Got home about 9.15 p.m. Went bed about 9.30 p.m.
Jan 7th - Monday Got up about 8.45 a.m. Finished the Clothes I've made for June's Doll. Listen to the "Crowded Hour" - very good. Went bed about 10.0 p.m.
Jan 8th - Tuesday Got up 7.5 a.m. Went Theatre to see Gracie Fields and John Loder in "Sing as we Go" - very good. Got home about 8.50 p.m.
Jan 9th - Wednesday Got up 7.0 a.m. Went butchers for Mother and then went down High Street. Came home and burnt my fingers on the iron. Listen in to the wireless and heard "The Campden Wonder" - very good indeed. Went bed about 10.0 p.m.
Jan 10th - Thursday Got up about 7.0 a.m. Went Music Lessons. Kath met me out. Went for a walk. Got home about 9.0 p.m. Went bed 10.15 p.m.
Jan 11th - Friday Got up 7.10 a.m. Caught the bus to work. Kath and I went down High Street. Booked Palace. Bed 9.45 p.m.
Jan 12th - Saturday Got up 7.10. Went Sunday School Party at 2.0 p.m., about 70 children. Came home about 6.15 p.m. Listened in to "In Town Tonight" and heard the beginning of the panto from Nottingham which I saw at Christmas. "Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood". Went Palace - Carl Brisson and Kitty Carlise in "Murders in Vanities" - very good. Arrived home about 11.10 p.m. Went to bed.
Jan 13th - Sunday Got up 9.30 a.m. Went on parade. Went Chapel at night. Rained when we came home, so we got in about 7.40 p.m. Had some supper and went bed about 9.0 p.m.
Jan 14th Monday Got up 7.0 a.m. Went Brigade. Arrived home 9.45 p.m. Went to bed.
Jan 15th - Tuesday Got up 6.50 a.m. Listen in to the wireless to hear the poll from Germany. Germany won. Got ready for work. Kath and I went over Mrs Kilsby's, she was in bed. Got home about 9.45 p.m. Bed 10.0 p.m.
Jan 16th - Wednesday Got up 7.0 a.m. Went down Winnie's had some books. Kath came in. Listened in to the wireless. Went to bed.
Jan 17th - Thursday Went music lessons. Kath met me out. Went for a walk. Home 9.5.
Jan 18th - Friday Today I went up the Co-op Hall. Kath and a few more girls who knew, Labour Dance. We arrived home about 11.15 p.m. Had a nice time.
Jan 19th - Saturday Went Theatre - Clark Gable in "Men in White" - very good. Got home from pictures about 11.20. All in bed so I locked up.
Jan 20th - Sunday Did not wake up until 9.30. I then got up, had my breakfast. Help mother. Got ready and went Beginners. Kath and myself went Chapel in the evening. Did not go far when we came [out] because it rained.
Jan 21st - Monday Early in getting up this morning. Went to work. In the evening I went Brigade. Read some more of the play "Dick Wigginton and his Cat". They have picked me to be the chief housemaid, but I don't know for sure. I got home about 9.45 p.m. Mother was waiting for me, then we went to bed.
Jan 22nd - Tuesday I was early again this morning. I arrived at work about 7.25 a.m. Out for a quarter^ this afternoon, still Elsie and I didn't mind for the sun was shining lovely. This evening Kath and me went Theatre to see Richard Tauber, Jane Baxter & Carl Esmond in "Blossom Time" - very good indeed. We came out of pictures about 9.20 and when we got to Wright's the Chemist, we saw Douglas & Leslie, but they hadn't seen Freda. Got up home 10.0 p.m. All in bed again. I shall have to be early tomorrow. Nell Linnett gassed herself today. Poor dear, she has not felt well for a long time. [^If workers were a minute late arriving they lost their pay for a quarter of an hour]
Jan 23rd - Wednesday Early again this morning. Mother made me some toast for my lunch. I did not go out this evening. Mother has gone up Mrs Denton's. I wish she'd hurry back. I kept thinking I heard noises. I am getting a bit frightened. Went to bed earlier tonight 9.20.
Jan 24th - Thursday A bit later in getting up this morning. Had to stop overtime this evening. Went music lessons. Kath met me out, went for a little walk. Got home about 8.45. Mother and Dad went up Aunt Ada's. I went bed about 9.25. Did not hear them come home.
Jan 25th - Friday Did not sleep very well last night. Very windy. Late in getting up. Did not go out this evening. Got a bad cold, and I don't feel very well, I feel sick, but I listen in to Henry Hall 7.30 - 8.15.
Jan 26th - Saturday Had to bus this morning because I'm late. It snowed this afternoon and the wind blew awful. Listened in to the wireless. Went to the Theatre - Leslie Fuller in "Lost in the Legion" and it was 11.15 before we came out.
Jan 28th - Monday I was up early this morning. Walked to work. Went brigade and came home about 9.45.
Jan 29th - Tuesday Late this morning. Bused^. Went down the Adult School. British Legion had a Sausage & Mash. Had a lovely time and I arrived home about 10.45. [^Travelled by bus]
Jan 30th - Wednesday Early again this morning. Had to stop overtime but at 5.50 Miss Draper said we could go home because we hadn't any work. Listen in to the "Ne'er-do-wells". Very good. Had my supper and went to bed.
Jan 31st - Thursday Went to work. I went music lessons this evening. Went up Mrs Denton's but she had gone out. I left there about 8.30. Went to bed
Feb 1st - Friday Went to work as usual. I waited for Kath to come, but she did not come until 8. I told her about how she said such a nasty thing to me on Tuesday. Did not go out. Listened in to a panto on the wireless.
Feb 2nd - Saturday Went to work. When I came home I had my dinner, helped Mother. Washed myself. Listened in to "In town tonight". Lilian Harvey was on. I then listened in to Music Halls. That was very good. While I was listening in I finished my Bed Jacket. Went bed about 11.30 p.m.
Feb 3rd - Sunday Got up 9.30. Went Beginners. Went Bible Class. Went up Mrs Denton's to tea. Did jig-saws and read "Good wives". Had supper. Came away about 9.0 p.m.
Feb 4th - Monday Late - bused this morning. Went Brigade. Read some of the play. I came home at 9.5 p.m. Listened in the fight. Between "Peterson v Neisal" ?he won. Went to bed about 10.45 p.m.
Feb 5th - Tuesday Walked to work. Stopped in this evening. Listened in. Went bed early. (Started Jumper)
Feb 6th - Wednesday Work. I met Margaret Sears and went Theatre with her. Clifford Morrinson & Wendy Barrie in "Give her a ring" - very good. Got home about 9.45 p.m. Mother having the sweep^ tomorrow. [^The chimney sweep was coming to clean soot from the chimney]
Feb 7th - Thursday Went work. Went to Music lessons. Had a new piece. Went across Eve's. Did some knitting. Listened in to "Guess who it is". Went bed about 9.30 p.m.
Feb 8th - Friday Went to work. Went down High Street. Bought a toothbrush 1/6d. Went in Aunt May's. Uncle Frank cut my hair. Packed up. Going to London tomorrow. Bed.
Feb 9th - Saturday Got up. Dressed up. Went to work. Left off at 11.15 a.m. Went in Gramp's for a cup of tea. Went down the station. Met mum there. Going to London. Left Wellingbora at 12.36 - in London at 1.56 p.m. Aunt Mary & June went at [came to?] the bus stop to meet us. In the evening Uncle Harry took me up West End. It was lovely. Saw Stellenie's horn Orchestra up Broadcasting house & many things. We arrived home about 10.40 p.m.
Feb 10th - Sunday Did not get up until 12.0, when I did get up I helped get the dinner table [set the dinner table?]. After dinner I dried up and then washed myself. Aunt Clara, mother and myself went to Chapel. Choir Festival. Dorothy Stanton, Eileen Pitcher, Clara Hubbard, John McKenna, Edward Dykes. Very Good. In the evening I went Chapel with Margaret. Went for a walk.
Feb 11th - Monday Late in getting up - bused. Had to stop overtime. Went Chapel with Margaret, Joan Tomlin & others. Very good. Got home about 10.30 p.m. In bed by 11.0 p.m.
Feb 12th - Tuesday Late again. Bused. Overtime. Washed up tea things. Had my practice. Listened in to "Scrapbook". Did some knitting. Listen to a play on the wireless "Promotion". Went to bed when it was finished 10.0 p.m. "Good night".
Feb 13th - Wednesday Walked to work. Did not go out this evening. I finished the back of my jumper.
Feb 14th - Thursday - Valentine Day Late. Bused. Overtime. Went Music Lessons and after that I went with Winnie along the Assembly Rooms. There was a Concert & Social on. Had a nice time. Arrived home about 11.10 p.m.
Feb 15th - Friday Late again. Bused. Overtime. Went and had my tooth out - Mr North. I did not go until eleven as my tooth was still bleeding. It was bleeding all night.
Feb 16th - Saturday Did not go to work. My tooth kept me awake all night. Had a cup of tea in bed. Did not get up until 10.0 a.m. In the afternoon I went up Margaret Sear's house to tell her about the Palace. When I left there I went along Aunt Elsie's. She gave me some "Woman's Weeklies". Then both of us went in Mrs Smith's house in Wellingbora road. I played the piano and looked over her house then we went do[wn] High Street. When we got up our house Uncle Bill was there - he is very poorly, Aunt Elsie stopped tea. I listened to Ambrose at 5.15. I did some knitting and listened in to "In Town Tonight". At 8.15 I left our house and met Margaret and Freda outside Palace. I saw Geoff inside Palace. The picture was "One Night of Love" - Grace Moore. I liked it. It was windy coming up home. Went bed.
Feb 15th - Sunday Got up about 10.0. Went Sunday School. In the afternoon the Children had their prizes. After tea I went for a walk. Went to bed about 9.30 p.m.
Feb 18th - Monday Bused to work - overtime. Went brigade. Did First Aid etc. Arrived home about 9.40 p.m.
Feb 19th - Tuesday Bused. Overtime. Went Theatre this evening. Wallace Beery & Jackie Cooper in "Treasure Island". Good. Got up home about 9.45 p.m. Went to bed.
Feb 20th - Wednesday Late again. I Bused. Had to stop overtime until 6.30 p.m. Listen in and did some knitting. Dad's not very well. Got a cold. Went bed about 9.30 p.m.
Feb 21st - Thursday Late again. Bused. Overtime. Went Music-lessons. Listened in to Jack Payne's Party. It was alright too. Did some knitting. Went bed at 9.50 p.m. Good-night.
Feb 22nd - Friday Bused again. Overtime. I went down High Street and booked Palace 207-8-9. Washed up. Washed myself. Mended my stocking. Did my skirt. I've done all that, now I am going to do some knitting.
Feb 23rd - Saturday Walk to work for a change. Went Palace with Margaret & Freda to see Shirley Temple, Dorothy Dell, Charles Bickford in "Girl in Pawn", it was very good. I cried a little. Sat up to hear Littlewoods^. [^The football pools - betting on the results]
Feb 24th - Sunday Did not get up until 10.0. Help Mother. Uncle Herbert came in. We all went down Irthlingbora to tea. Came home on the bus - it poured with rain.
Feb 25th - Monday Bused to work. Did not to Brigade. Got a cold. Went bed.
Feb 26th - Tuesday Bused again. I shall have to get up early. I went Y.P.O. with Winnie. Mr Blackmore gave the address. Got home about 9.40 p.m.
Feb 27th - Wednesday Bused to work. Did not get out this evening. Had my practice. Winnie came in. She practiced her song. Listened in to the wireless.
Feb 28th - Thursday Bused again. Went Music Lessons. Winnie was in our house nearly all night.
March 1st - Friday I said rabbits^ this morning. I don't know whether I shall be lucky. Bused. Overtime. Went down High Street. Bought a new skirt - a pink one. Got home about 8.0. Uncle Frank cut my hair. Lisetened in. Did not go bed til nearly 10.30. Sat knitting. Sew[ed] jumper together. [^Traditionally repeated three times on waking - “white rabbits” for good luck for the new month]
March 2nd - Saturday - Aunt Clara's Birthday Bused to work. Went Football match - semi-final Rushden v Northampton "A". Rushden won 1-0. Jolly good game. After tea I had a bath. Listened in to "In Town Tonight", Brass Band & Music Hall - heard Les Allen. Finished my pink Jumper, started on my blue one. Listened in to Henry Hall's "Guest-night"
March 3rd - Sunday Got up about 9.45. Washed myself. Went Beginners. Went Bible Class afternoon. Sat in the frontroom nearly all night. May came in. Went and had my supper about 8.0. Went bed.
March 4th - Monday Walked to work. Overtime. Went Brigade. Came home 9.15. Washed my hair. Went to bed about 10.15.
March 5th - Tuesday Bused to work. Overtime. I went Theatre with Margaret to see Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Otto Kruger in "Chained" - very good. Home about 9.45 p.m. Went to bed.
March 6th - Wednesday Bused to work. Went out. Home about 9.45. Went straight to bed.
March 7th - Thursday Bused to work. Did not have to stop overtime. There is a lot away from work. Went Music Lessons. Came home. Got a bad nose and my face is swelling up. Put brand bags on my face [?]. Went to bed. Had some hot milk in bed.
March 8th - Friday Did not go to work. Went Doctors - told me to rub glycerine on my face. Went and had my hair waved at Meadow's. Cliff has not been to school. He came in this afternoon. Margaret came up to see how I was getting on. Went bed early.
March 9th - Saturday Got up about 9.30. Had my breakfast. My face is a little better. Sat down near the fire. I curled Mother's hair. Mrs Timpson was buried this afternoon. Flo Sanders died today. Had Tea. Sat near the fire again. Had Henry Hall on. Listened in and knitted all night. Went bed about 10.45 p.m.
March 10th - Sunday Did not get up until nearly 10.45. Had a cup of tea & biscuits. After dinner I went in the frontroom. Sat reading and knitting. In the evening I did some painting. Sat there until 9. Went to bed.
March 11th - Monday Got up about 7.0. Went work. Did not go out this evening. Listened in to Henry Hall. Finished the front of my blue jumper. Went to [bed] early 9.25 p.m.
March 12th - Tuesday Woke early this morning. Up before seven. Had breakfast and went to work. Worked overtime. Mother went doctors and then I went after I came from work. Doctor Murisit plugged my nose, made my eyes run. I cried a little. Came home, had a little tea. Got to go to Doctor's tomorrow again. Went to bed about 9.30 p.m.
March 13th Wednesday Woke early again. Went work. Overtime. Went doctors. Nose much better. Margaret and I were going Theatre but it broke down. We went for a walk and then we went in Rollie Cox's. Went for another little walk. Got home about 9.15 p.m. Bed 9.30 p.m.
March 14th - Thursday Late this morning. Missed the bus. Lost a quarter. Overtime. Did not go out this evening. Listened in. Knitting. Play called "Three Sisters".
March 15th - Friday Bused to work. Stopped in.
March 16th - Saturday Walked to work. Margaret came to football match with me. Went Theatre at night. I can't think of the picture.
March 17th - Sunday Went Sunday School in the morning. In the afternoon we went Church. Went up Mrs Denton's to tea. Went Chapel with Grace Webb & Madge Geoffry. Went for a walk. Got home about 9.0.
March 18th - Monday Walked to work. Overtime. Went Brigade. Arrived home about 9.45.
March 19th - Tuesday Walked to work. Overtime. Went Y.P.O. Mr Sheppard "What - a world we live in", very interesting.
March 20th - Wednesday Walked to work. Overtime. Stopped [in]. Listened in.
March 21st - Thursday Walked to work. Overtime. Went Music Lessons.
March 22nd - Friday Walked to work. Overtime. Stopped in.
March 23rd - Saturday Walked to work. Went Football Match. Rained all day. Rushden won Kettering Reserves by 4-0. Mother & Dad went Nottingham. Margaret, Joan, Freda & I went Palace to see Jan Keiper in "My Song for You" - I loved it.
March 24th - Sunday Got up first this morning. Help Mother. Made a jam Roll. Went up Mission Chapel. Went for a walk - us 4. Got home about 9.10.
March 25th - Monday Walked to work. Overtime. Went Brigade. Home about 9.45.
March 26th - Tuesday Walked to work. I'm getting up these mornings. Did not have to stop overtime. Met Joan at Ward's Corner^ at 7.30. Went right round the Big Hayway. My poor feet. Got home 9.40. [^Ward’s Corner is opposite the Parish Church at the start of the High Street, and had been a grocery store kept by Mr Ward. By 1933 it was owned by P W Wills – see commerce. Ada had bought several new items of clothing from Wills’ so she was reverting to the old name. Even today older people occasionally refer to it as Ward’s Corner]
March 27th - Wednesday Walked to work. No overtime. Went Palace. Sat with Kit Roberts. Nova Pilbeam in "Little Friend" - very good.
March 28th - Thursday Walked to work. Overtime. Went Music Lesson - a new Piece. Joan met me out. Went for a walk down the road to Irthlingbora'. Got home about 9.10.
March 29th - Friday Walked to work. No overtime. Washed up. Washed myself. Washed my feet. Listened in. Did some knitting. Mother is not very well. Went to bed about 10.
March 30th - Saturday Walked to work. Washed up & helped Mother pull the paper off her bedroom wall. Then about 3.30 I came down and I washed myself and got ready. Got tea. Went down Ward's Corner about 8. Margaret & Freda came up about 8.10. Went Theatre - "I ride alone" starring John Wayne. Got home about 11. Listen to Henry Hall's Guest Night programme. Went to bed after that.
March 31st - Sunday Got up about 9.45. Had breakfast. Helped Mother. Got ready and went Beginners. Went Bible Class in the afternoon. Went up Mission in the evening. Went for a walk with Margaret & Freda. Arrived home just after 9.
April 1st - Monday Walked to work. Overtime. Went Brigade. Home 9.45.
April 2nd - Tuesday Walked to work. Upstir at work, about G Sanders. Did not have to stop overtime. Fetched a new pair of shoes - fawn Court. Met Joan at Wills at 7.30. Went for walk but we did not go far as it started to rain. Very cold today. Got home about 9.10.
April 3rd - Wednesday Walked to work. This evening I helped Mother. She has Spring Cleaned^ my bedroom , so I dusted and tidied it up. Did not finish until 8.15. Sat down and listened to the wireless. Washed myself and went to bed. [^The brighter days of spring sometimes encouraged a more thorough clean which was known as Spring Cleaning]
April 4th - Thursday Walked to work. I went Music Lessons. Joan met me out. Went for a walk. Got home about 9.0.
April 5th - Friday Walked to work. Went down Street with Mother. I bought a new pair of Gloves, stocking and a new mac. Went round the Night School Ex. Then we went up Gramp's. Put the wireless [on] when we got home. Went to bed 10.30 p.m.
April 6th - Saturday Bused this morning. Helped Mother and then I made a orange cake. I met Joan, Mar. & Freda about 7.30 and we went round the Ex. Went Theatre to see Clifford Mollinson and Zelma O'Neal in "Mr Cinders", a musical comedy - it was alright. Got home about 11. Sat up & listened to Ambrose - bed 11.45.
April 7th - Sunday Got up about 10.30. Had breakfast. Helped Mother, went Beginners in the afternoon. Went up the Mission at night. Poured a' rain this evening.
April 8th - Monday Going to bus but I missed it. Out for a quarter. Went Brigade. Home about 9.45.
April 9th - Tuesday I'm nineteen today. Walked to work. Overtime. I had 8 Birthday Cards. Went for a walk with Joan. Started to rain again. Rained so we went home.
April 10th - Wednesday Margaret's Birthday today. Bused to work because it rained. Overtime. Stopped in and did some knitting and listened in to the wireless, it was called "Dairymaids". Bed about 10.
April 11th - Thursday Walked to work. I went music lessons. Joan met me out. Went for a walk. Got home about 9.15.
April 12th - Friday Walked to work. Had my tea and then went down the High Street. I bought two pairs of stockings and two blue handkerchieves. Got home about 8 p.m. Had my supper. Uncle Frank came to cut my hair at 9.15 and he said he was coming at 8. Went to bed at 10.15.
April 13th - Saturday Walked to work. Helped mother and we went down Street. I went in Wills' and had a new dress - Marina Green with a cape. Had my tea, listened in. Met Joan, Mar and Freda at Will's, went down and then we went up Allan's for a Jubilee pencil. I bought a toasting fork for Dora and Arnold for a wedding present. Went Palace to see Evelyn Laye in "Evensong" but I wasn't thrilled. Got home about 11 p.m.
Sunday - 14th April Got up about 9.30. Went on parade, but I did not go to Chapel but went along Beginners. Stopped in this afternoon. Went up the Mission and then we all went for a walk. Got home 9.0.
Monday - 15th April Bused this morning. Went Brigade. Got home about 9.45.
Tuesday - 16th April Walked to work. Dorothy Smith's birthday today. I went to meet Joan at 7.30 p.m. but she wasn't there so I walked up Wellingbora' road. I met Joan, Mar and Vera near Caswell's. Went for a walk down Irthlingbora' Road. Lost Mar and Vera. Got home about quarter to ten.
Wednesday - 17th April Walked to work. Mother is paper hanging so I went in the front room and mended the socks and stockings and finished my blue Jumper. Went to bed just after half past nine.
Thursday - 18th April Walked to work. Some of the girls were done this dinner time but we were done this evening. Went football match - Rushden played Bedford and won 4-1. Poured a' rain all the match. Went down Street.
Friday - 19th April Got up about 8. Helped Mother. Got washed after dinner. Fetched my money. Went Music Lessons at 7.30. Went Palace with Joan and Mar to see "Mrs Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch". Home 11 p.m.
Saturday - 20th April Got up about 9.30. Helped Mother and then went to see Dora's wedding. Came home and I did not feel very well so I went bed and I did not get [up] any more today. Billious attack.
Sunday - 21st April - Easter Sunday I got up about 10.30. I feel much better today. Aunt France came. Sat in the frontroom nearly all day. Went bed just after 8.30. Joan and Freda came up.
Monday - 22nd April Got up about 9.0. Had some breakfast. Just cleared away. Got washed and Beryl and I went up Joan's but she had come up our house. Came home again. Joan and Freda are going out. I stopped in.
May 11th - Saturday Winnie's birthday today. Today is Mr & Mrs Millard's Golden Wedding. We went. Had a good tea and after tea we had a good time. I had a lot of dances with Oscar. Then Harold asked me for a dance and then that started it. He took me down to the bus. Asked when he could see me again. Bus came and we said Goodnight.

May 12th - Sunday Grandma Sail's Birthday
May 15th - Wednesday Met Harold at P.O. and we went for a walk, it was a jolly good walk and I quite enjoyed myself. I like him very much, he was ever so nice to me. He brought me home and I wasn't late in going in. About 10 o'clock. All a-bed but Eric. Went bed and was in bed as it was striking 10 o'clock.
May 25th - Saturday Met Harold, went for a walk. Went Theatre. Did not come out until 11.10. Got home about 11.20.
May 26th - Sunday Went Sunday School.
June 1st Met Harold, went for a little walk before we went Pictures. We went to see "Radio Parade 1935". Very Good. Home about 11.0.
June 3rd - Tuesday Went on caps yesterday. Met Harold. Went for a walk & home 9.55.
June 8th - Saturday - Whit-Saturday Went down the station to meet them in from Long Eaton. Went Palace at night to see "Roadhouse". Very good picture. Came home about 11.
June 9th - Sunday Got up about 9.0. Lucy, Elsie & me went up Aunt France's, then round to Aunt Elsie. Left there about 12.15. Had dinner. Went up the Hall in the afternoon. Sat on a seat until 4.15. Came home, had tea. Hurried and cleared away, and then we went down to see if we could get on the Country-trip. Got on Seamark's. Went to Old Warden and stopped at Milton Ernest coming back. Arrived home about 9.0 to 9.15. Went down Street. Got home about 10.0.
June 10th - Monday Went down Post and then we went in Cook's and had a drink. Came home and had dinner. Went down Robinson's Garage. Got in the Charabanc. We went all round the villages to Turvey, Bozeat, Woburn Park & Sands. Then we finished up at Riseley. We started from at 2, and arrived back at 9. Lucy, Elsie, Lenny, Cliff, George & I all went Theatre. Evelyn Prentice, Myna Loye & William Powell.
June 11th - Tuesday Walked down Street seen Mother and Aunt Annie in the bus, we got on it. Went Higham to Aunt Kate. Left there about 11. Went in Colton's and fetch a pair of white Rubbers. Caught a bus, got off near "Wheatsheaf". Went round the Hall. Took some snaps. Went down to see the parade. "Tea Drinking Day". Went down Station to see them all off home again. Came home and had my tea. Went up Mission Sports Field. Came home about 7.45. Poured a rain. Went bed about 9.30.
June 13th - Thursday Met Harold at 7.30. Went for a walk. Arrived home 9.55.
June 15th - Saturday Met Harold, went for a little walk. Came on to rain so we had to shelter. Went Palace to see Cicely Courtnidge in "Things are looking up". Home 10.55.
June 22nd - Saturday Met Harold, went for a walk after which we went Theatre to see "The Wicked Woman" - it was very good. Mother & Dad have gone to London today and Georgie to Bedford. Went for a little walk after pictures, got home about 11.0. Mother & Dad arrived home about 11.20. Went to bed at 11.45.
June 23rd - Sunday Got up at 8.30. Got a cup of tea. Did the house up. Had breakfast and then went up the cemetery with Grandma & Eva. Got ready for Sunday School. I had a lazy afternoon. I sat on the lawn until about 4.0. Had tea on the lawn. Got ready & went Chapel. Went with Harold. This is the first Sunday night I have been with him. I got home about 9.25 p.m.
July 9th - Tuesday Went to work, but I had a terrible morning. I did not know how to walk about; I could have cried. I could not go to work in the afternoon. I went to Doctors, and he said that I've got a absiss on my thigh. Harold came up home and he stayed until 9.30. I had a restless night, did not sleep at all the pain was so terrible. I was glad when morning came.
July 10th - Wednesday Mother brought me some breakfast up. I got up and went and layed down in Mrs Willmott's garden on her camp bed. The doctor did not come until 1.45. I went through a few minutes of pain. I just amused myself during the afternoon. Doctor came and he did hurt, he squeezed a lot of stuff out of my absiss. Went to bed but I could not sleep again. Mother dressed my absiss in the night.
July 11th - Thursday Mother dressed my absiss again at 7 this morning. Brought up me breakfast. Doctor came again. It looked like rain this evening and then after about half an hour of darkness it tipple down. Harold came and brought me some oranges. Sat in the front room. Joan and Margaret came up. Harold came in his new mac. He went at quarter to ten. Went bed to another sleepless night.
July 12th - Friday Aunt Mary brought my breakfast up. She sat talking until nearly 9.30. Got up and went downstairs, layed down on the settee. Doctor came, it is a little better, said I may go down the High Street for a little walk if I didn't go too far. Rose Lamb came in this evening and we exchange some music. I took her out of herself for few minutes. She was in about 1½ hours. Goodnight.
July 13th - Saturday Woke at 7.20 after a better night. Harold came up in the evening. Went to bed about 11.15. I have been getting up going out with Rene all this week.
Jul 20th - Saturday Got up at 7.45. Went for Rene. Went down and saw Harry Swingler's wedding. Went Doctors, gone off the Club. Rene and I went down High St. Joined the "Country Side Library". Stop in all afternoon and finished my sailors collar.
August Went Yarmouth this August with Elsie, Lucy, Joan & Margaret. Had a lovely time all together. Met some Leicester chaps. Had a grand time all the week.

Sept 3rd - Tuesday Harold won £5 on Littlewoods, he treated all of us. He gave me 10/-, but he hadn't ought to. We went up Aunt Clara's and he had some books. I started on my woollen jacket. Got home about 9.45.
Sept 4th - Wednesday Went up Joan's house. Had a sing song. Got home 9.50.
Sept 8th - Sunday Brigade Sunday. Paraded all day. Edna and Eva came to tea. Also Oscar and Harold. Harold & I stop in in the evening. Had supper, went to bed about 10.0.
Oct 19th - Saturday Harold and I went to Northampton. Went to the New Theatre to see the "Girl Friend" - very good. ("We'll have a Blue Room"). Got home about 10.30. Harold stopped the night.
Oct 26th - Saturday Went down High St with Ma. Bought wool for Harold's pullover. Started on it after tea. Went pictures at night to see "Roberta".
Nov 2nd - Saturday Harold came up and we all went up the Town Football. Rushden won Kettering by 3-2. Good game. Went to see "Flirtation Walk". I liked it very much. Harold went about 11.30. Goodnight Everybody.
Tuesday - Dec 24th Margaret and I met Lucy at Wellingboro' Station - 1 hour late. Had my hair waved. Hung stocking up.
Wednesday - Dec 25th - Christmas Day 1935 Got up about 9.30. Went up Aunt Elsie's with Harold, Lucy & George. Had party at our house. Bed 12.30.
Thursday - Dec 26th Got up 10.0. Went Football Match with Harold & Lucy. Rushden won Desborough - grand time. Got home about 3.0 a.m.
Friday - Dec 27th Got up at 10.45 a.m. Stopped in all afternoon. Went Theatre "No More Ladies". Went up Windmill to Dance. Home about 12. Sat playing cards. Bed 12.35.
Saturday - Dec 28th Played Billiards. Lucy and I went up Joan's to tea. Harold came up about 8. Stop 'til 10.15.
Sunday - Dec 29th Up early 8.30. Got Harold and all a cup of tea. Started visiting 10.0a.m. Home for dinner. Said goodbye to Lucy. Dad went back with Lucy, also George. Eric got home 11.0. Harold went home 9.30.
Monday - Dec 30th Dad brought Joyce back and Georgie stop with Clem. Joyce is stopping all the week.
