She sang "After tonight we say Goodbye", "Looking on the Bright Side", "You're more than all the world to me", "I hate you", "He's dead but won't lie down". Went up the Anph. [or did she mean the Ath - the Athletic Club?] Got home about 8.50. |

Charles Laughton was in "Devil & the Deep" at the Palace with Talluhead Bankhead & Gary Cooper. Went home. Listen to Ambrose. |

Went work. Got washed & ready. Went Northampton. Had a costume, hat & blouse. Aunt Ada & Clara had a new coat. Aunt Ada dropped her Roll on the floor. Grandma laughed. Got home about 8.30. Kath and I went Theatre second house to see "Red Dust" starring Clark Gable, Jean Harlow & Mary Aster. Kath slept with me. |

Uncle Herbert called May & myself about 2 o'clock. Got up, had a cup of tea. Got ready and went round Flo's. Went down the station. Train left 3.31am, Wellingbora 3.50. Arrived at Westgate about 9.00 a.m. Found the house and they let us change our clothes. Went down to the sea and sat on the sands. Went back to the house for tea 4.0. Went for a walk to Birchington, came back and went to bed. There were nine girls in our bedroom. May Francis, Doris Francis, Kathleen, Emily Body, Flo, Ena, Hazel, Joan and myself. |

Dinner at 1p.m. Walk out somewhere. Walked to Margate after supper. Hazel & Joan went with two boys. We walked back to Westgate. Hazel & Joan were late. Went bed. |

Got up about 8.0 a.m. Washed ourselves. Went down to breakfast, after which we went and made our beds. Went down the beach and went in the sea. Hazel, Joan, Ena, Esther & myself had a game on the beach. Went back for lunch at 1 o'clock. Went down the beach again. Went back for tea, messed around till supper. Got ready. Hazel & Joan went with their two boys. Flo, Doris, Ena and myself went on the bus to Margate, went on the pier and as we were coming off we saw our Mother & Dad. Went round Dreamland and we went with two Lad's Brigade boys. Went on the Ghost Train. Walked back to Doon House. Got in about 10.45 p.m. (Ent) Went to bed. |

Got up about 7.45 a.m. Got washed and dressed, made bed in time for breakfast. At breakfast went down the beach, went in the sea, had a lovely time. Had dinner at 1 o'clock. Got on a bus to Margate, went on the pier. (About 25 girls went on the steamer). Got on the boat, it was called the "Queen of Southend", went to Ramsgate, back to Margate then on to Herne Bay. Came back by train. Had supper and Ena & I went out. We met Frank & Jack just coming out of Dreamland. Walked round Dreamland once and then walked back. Frank & Jack caught a bus to Birchington where they were camping. Went up to our bedroom. Had a talk and sleep. |

Got up about 6.45. Ena & I went for a walk round by the Gas works. Got back about 8.0. Got washed & ready and I made my bed. Had breakfast. Walked over to Margate, came back & went in the sea. Dinner at 1 o'clock. Went back down the beach. Tea out in the garden. Went up the bedroom to get ready. Ena & I to meet them at 6.0 and they were not there. Went in the smoke room, played the piano. Came out and we got on a bus to Margate, we had just got on when we saw them waiting for us lower down and they got on the bus, we got off the bus at Margate & we walked to Cliftonvilla & back to Margate to Dreamland. Went in the Ghost Train with Frank, Jack & Ena. Had a good time. Walked back to Margate. Got in about 10.30 p.m. Went bed. |

Got up about 7.30. Got washed & ready. Made Bed. Had Breakfast. Lot of us went on a coach started about 9.30 a.m. Went to Dover, then to Folkstone, then on to Canterbury. We went over Canterbury Cathedral - very nice. Got back about 7. Had a meal at 7.30. Ena & I went over to Margate. Went round Dreamland. Met Frank & Jack. Went for a walk and walked back to Westgate. Got in about 10.15. |

Had a High tea at 6.30 p.m. They had a party but Ena, Hazel & myself went out. Ena & I went over to Birchington Camp. Jack had to stop in on guard. Ena & I went to Margate. Met Frank, went with him. Met Ena afterwards. Got in about 10.30. Had a dance. Went bed. |
