Secondary Education for Boys in Rushden
1949-1991
Rushden Intermediate School, in the Hayway, opened in 1925 to provided a co-education for boys and girls of secondary age. In 1949 Tennyson Road County Modern School opened to provide a Secondary Modern Education for boys between the ages of 11 and 15 in Rushden and Higham Ferrers. Later known locally as the Pemberton School, or "Bert's Academy".... The girls stayed at Hayway school which was then renamed North End Secondary Modern School for girls.
