Synopsis

The young Viola is shipwrecked. She believes her twin brother Sebastian drowned. Arriving at the coast of Illyria, she realises it will be easier for her to earn her living disguised a boy. She calls herself ''Cesario'' & finds employment Orsino, the Duke of Illyria. She becomes his favourite. The Duke fancies Lady Olivia & uses Viola as a go between.

Olivia has always refused Orsino. She now becomes attracted to the disguised Viola. Sir Andrew, a foolish friend of Olivia's Uncle Toby, is annoyed at this.

Sir Toby is a drunkard who makes an enemy of Malvolio, Olivia's steward. Maria, Olivia's maid, plans revenge on Malvolio. She convinces him that her mistress is in love with him. The trick works. The Clown is able to mock Malvolio in a madhouse.

Antonio, a sea captain enemy of the Duke arrives in Illyria with the missing twin Sebastian. Antonio is arrested. Sebastian marries. All is ready for the final act.
