Pirates Ahoy!
Ocean Adventure of Rushden Aircraftsman

This snapshot comes from Aircraftsman G. Barker, R.A.F., of Rushden, who is seen (centre) reading his "Echo and Argus" aboard H.M.S. "Hermes," the famous aircraft carrier, somewhere in the Indian Ocean.

A.C. Barker is now at Hong Kong and expects to stay in eastern waters about 2½ years. His voyage on the "Hermes" was eventful, for the vessel went to the rescue of a ship attacked by Chinese pirates, and 70 children were saved.

The Aircraftsman's parents are Mr. and Mrs. J. Barker, of 26, Sartoris-road, Rushden.
