Allebone & Sons Ltd.

Factory Employees’ Supper - Revived since the war, the annual supper and social of the staff, employees, and friends of Messrs Allebone and Sons Ltd., boot manufacturers, Rushden, was held on Friday at the Co-operative Hall, 95 sitting down to the tables, presided over by Mr Allebone, jun. Following the excellent repast, dances, games, etc., took place, with songs at intervals by Miss Millicent Childs (soprano), Mr Walter Smith (tenor), and Mr H Smith (comedian). A cornet solo, “The Lost Chord,” was ably rendered by Mr M J Roberts, and the Students’ Orchestral Band, conducted by Mr Roberts, gave selection and played for dancing. On the proposition of Mr W Higgins (for the employees), seconded by Mr Brown (for the visitors), hearty thanks were accorded the firm for the excellent supper and entertainment. The proceedings, having lasted about six hours, broke up at 12.30a.m. The arrangements were made by Mr Allebone, jun., and a committee of employees.
