Ebenezer Wrighton
Young Ebenezer

John Wrighton (born Wellingborough), and Ann Cox (d of Jn & Lucy), were married on June 18th 1850 at St Mary's Church, Rushden.

They had 5 children; Hannah in 1857, Rebecca in 1858, Samuel in 1859, Deborah in 1862, and Ebenezer Wrighton in 1863. Ann died in 1870 aged 34.

Ebenezer Wrighton followed his father into the shoetrade and in 1888 he opened his own factory in York Road, later moving to Crabb Street.

In 1886 he married Mary Knight and they had 3 children; Samuel Jesse in 1888 (d 1921), John William in 1893, and Frances in 1896. Mary died aged 31 in 1896.

At Easter 1898 Ebenezer Wrighton, shoe manufacturer, married Miss Eva Gray, daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. Gray.

Their son Frederck Herbert was born in 1900.

Ebenezer passed away in January 1941, at his residence, 257 Wellingborough-road, Rushden, aged 77 years.

Eva died in 1958 aged 88. They are both buried in Rushden Cemetery plot B850, but there is no headstone.

Their children were Lorna Mary born 1926 (d 2018), Brian Frederick born 1928 and Kenneth Hedley born 1929.

In the 1940s the family moved to Kingston on Thames. Lorna Mary Wrighton married Albert Pearce in 1951 at Kingston.
