The Royal Welsh Fusiliers were stationed in Rushen for a time, and many kept up the friendships after the war.
Sadly the Commonwealth War Graves records:
William Rees Nanney Private1488 Royal Welsh Fusiliers 1st/6th Bn.
Died 20 August 1915, age 46 Commemorated on the HELLES MEMORIAL, Panel 78 to 81.
Served in Turkey (including Gallipoli) Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
Son of the late Rees and Ellen Nanney;
husband of Sarah Catherine Nanney, of Hull.
His son also fell.
