Miss Violet Seckington

Violet Constance Seckington was born on the 15th October 1908 in Rushden, daughter of Harry and Mary Eliza Seckington, of 86 High Street Rushden. She had one sibling, Winifred Audrey May, known as May, who was eight years older than Violet. They were christened at St Peter's C of E Church.

In 1917 Violet joined Alfred Street Mixed department, having first been in the infant class, and in 1921 left for Wellingborough High School.

In 1919 she was on holiday at Skegness with a friend, Mabel Dilley, and in 1920 she took part in a concert.

Violet was also a talented artist. She painted this greeting card for her friend in 1973.

Violet died in 2011 aged 102.

She left a fine collection of photographs, and some newsclips, the basis of research into the family's history.
