c1950s - In 1883 four Almshouses were built to commemorate Frederick Maitland Sartoris, and two farm workers houses before extensions were done in the 1970s.

The farm was part of the Rushden Hall and in 1929 it was farmed by Mr. Beatty, Jnr, who rented it on a yearly basis, with some pasture land and a gravel pit. Another part had earlier been rented to Mr. R. A. Wheeler, butcher and cattle dealer.

The sale of the Hall Estate took place on Friday, 13th December, 1929, at the Victoria Hotel by Jackson, Stops and Staff, auctioneers, of Northampton. It was described as 136 acres, 3 roods, 30 pole.

The farmhouse was built of stone with a slate roof. The farm buildings were extensive comprising: A cow house for 18, with a large covered cattle courtyard for 30; a barn; a chaff house; and stables for 7 horses, with a harness room; an 8 bay cattle shed and yard; bull house; 3 loose boxes; 4 cattle boxes; a horse yard partly covered; implement shed; a 9 bay cart shed; the granary, and boiler house. It had been farmed by Charles Knight for many years previously.

After the sale in 1929, the building was used by M M Drabble, builder, as a joinery and store during building of St Mary’s and St Margaret’s avenues in the 1930s.
