Building in Hall Avenue : Houses for £495, £525, £560 or £575 paying £20 to £25 down, and weekly payments of 12s to 14s - but it does not mention the term of repayment!

Rushden Echo & Argus, 17th August 1934, transcribed by Kay Collins Holed In One - Rushden Golfer's Drive Mr. J. Drabble, of Messrs. M. M. Drabble, the well-known Rushden builders, holed in one at the fifth on the Rushden and District Club's course at Chelveston on Saturday. It is some time since such a feat has been accomplished, and since the course was opened only three or four players have done it.

This firm was started by James Drabble in September 1931 and was much involved in the development of Hall Avenue and St Margaret's Avenue.

Council Plans – Between 1931-1933 Rushden Council passed plans for a total of 98 houses and bungalows and 1 garage.

Northants Evening Telegraph - Thursday 09 February 1939 transcribed by Stuart Drabble A substantial housing scheme providing for the erection of 18 houses and 24 bungalows in Hall Avenue, was submitted by Messrs M.M. Drabble Ltd and the plans were approved. Messrs Drabble also presented plans for the lay-out of part of Hall Avenue. And these, too, were passed.

After WWII the firm was engaged on building the Higham Road Estate of Council Houses.

In 1954 James Drabble was killed in car accident, and he is buried at Stanwick.

His wife, Margaret Drabble, the original M. M. Drabble, died in 2004, aged 92 years, leaving one son, two daughters and nine grand-children, bringing to a close the 40 year history of Building and Civil Engineering achievements by the Drabble family.
