Central to this picture is Rushden Cottage, home of Mr John Cave. A large tree in the
front was removed in 1910 for widening the High Street. The rear garden joins the
factory built after a fire in 1901. On the corner of College Street/High Street is the
Post Office built in 1902. Bare ground south side of College Street is where the old
factory had stood - one wall remains on the rear boundary of the Rose and Crown.
