38 Higham Road
The shop at 38 Higham Road The delivery cart

Extract from a longer article - Angelus Quartette's visit to St Albans 1917

Among the audience was a Rushden boy (the son of Mr. Crane, baker, of Higham-road), who is serving as a baker in the A.S.C.

The bakery building was sold to Calor Gas about the 1950s and a new shop opened at 33 High Street, next to Boots the Chemist. Eventually it was renamed Anglo Swiss Patisserie, and specialised in fancy cakes, and catering. When Brian Crane retired the business was sold to Kinlochs bakery.
