Adjoining the 'Pightles Estate' laid out in 1896/77
Percy Collins' heel factory at the top of Denmark Road,
was extended in 1910. It has since been used by several companies including Horace Wright, Walter Knight,
Frank Eady Press, and in 2007 by J C Pine.
Benjamin Scroxton had 6, 7, 8 & 9 built in 1896 and rented them in 1910 to Mrs Fosket, Mr T E Brown, and Mr Charles Bates, and he lived at No. 9, later moving to No. 7. [see Council Plan 414]
In 1917 No. 7 was chosen for the War Shrine.
1 - 4 Denmark Road with an entry in the
centre for access to the backs of the houses.
Centre is No 9 the home of Ben Scroxton in 1901.
He later moved to No. 7.
From the factory down to 37 Denmark Road.
1 - 4 Denmark Court on ground between 37 & 38
1 - 8 Denmark Court - above 38 & 39 Denmark Road.
It seems Denmark Court is built on part of the grounds of 'Redclyffe' Care Home in the Pightles, and 38 and 39 are on part of grounds of The White House that stood in Grove Road.
When 38 and 39 were built a footptath was left as for access to the rear - now a block of garages.
When The White House was demolished in 2000 the rest of the large plot was used for building and these are collectively known as White House Court, with part in Denmark Road, part in Grove Road and part in The Pightles.
Footpath from Pightles end
38 & 39 Denmark Road and part of White House Court.
The rest of the White House land was used to build more
new houses - 101-102-103 White House Court.
