Eaton & Co Ltd.
Roll of Honour

On 1st June 1945, Messrs Eaton and Co. wrote to Mr W H Sinfield :-

We feel that with Victory in Europe, although the War goes on in the East, we should write to each one of the factory staff who has been serving the country in one or other of the Forces.

The following have made the great sacrifice and, alas, these who are our friends will not return to work with us:-

P Campion

D Houghton

And G Cholerton is missing, but we sincerely hope he will return safely.
We honour these men and will cherish their memory.

letter

We also express our admiration and thanks for all the valour on land, sea or in the air by which so many of you have contributed to the Victory.

We hope that you will quickly return to civilian life and that you wish to return to this factory where a sincere welcome awaits you from us all. We know that some of you may be concerned about future prospects owing to changes in circumstances since you left, therefore is you have any problems do not hesitate to write to us about them or discuss them personally when you are next on leave, you will have richly earned your release and we wish to do all we can to make your return a happy one.

Some of you may be destined for further service in the East, if so we send you our best wishes for a safe and speedy return.

Yours very truly,
