We are pleased to report that 149693, Pte. Herbert George Buttling, of the Machine Gun Corps, husband of Mrs. Buttling, of 61 Midland-road, Rushden, has been awarded the Military Medal and promoted to Lance-Corpl. for distinguished conduct on the field.

Pte. Buttling, who was formerly foreman packer for Messrs. Wm. Green and Sons, boot manufacturers, Rushden, joined the Colours in August 1917, and has been in France since December last, having participated in a great deal of heavy fighting. Fortunately he has come through unscathed up to the present. His many friends will join with us in congratulating him upon having obtained so well merited a distinction.
