Sergeant A E Bennett – An Irthlingborough Resident

Sergt. A E Bennett, D.C.M., of the Northants Regiment, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A Bennett, of 8 Park-road, Irthlingborough, has been wounded. As reported in our last issue, he has just been awarded the D.C.M. for his gallantry in the Gaza Battle. He was the goalkeeper for the Rushden Fosse Football Club.

Former Fosse Goalkeeper – Obtains a Second D.C.M.

Sergt. A. E. Bennett, Distinguished Conduct Medallist, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett, of Irthlingborough, has been awarded a bar to his D.C.M., which he won by his gallant conduct at the Battle of Gaza. Sergt. Bennett, who belongs to the Northants Regiment, is 26 years of age. He went through all the Gallipoli campaign. Previous to enlisting he worked at Messrs. Featherstonhaugh, Ltd., curriers, etc., Irthlingborough, and was the popular goalkeeper for Rushden Fosse Football Team.
