 Rushden Sportsman Gains a “Mention”

Kenneth  A Rushden sportsman now in the R.A.F. in Italy, Corpl. Kenneth Ambridge (25) has been mentioned in dispatches.  He is secretary to a chaplain.

  “On my arrival here on Monday I had quite a surprise waiting for me,” he informs his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. Ambridge, of 127, Newton-road, Rushden.  That morning the latest lot of Command Orders had arrived from M.A.A.F., and on it was stated that I have been mentioned in dispatches, so I am now entitled to wear an oak leaf.”

  An only son, Cpl. Ambridge has served abroad three years.  After 12 months in Iraq he crossed the Western Desert to Tripoli and went on to Italy.

  At Rushden he attended Newton-road School, was in the Baptist Boys’ Brigade and became captain of the Baptist F.C., also playing a few games for Rushden Town F.C. Reserves.  He was employed in the office of Messrs. P.X., Ltd.
