Two new courses to prepare youngsters for careers in the footwear industry start at the County Schools of Boot and Shoe Manufacture at Kettering and Rushden in September.
The first will be a one year full time course of instruction for boys and girls leaving school and the second involves part time attendance at the Boot and Shoe Schools by children in their last year at Secondary Modern Schools.
The one year course will help young people with transition from school life to industry and enable them to start technical education for the industry at an age when they are most receptive to learning.
Application for admission can be made on behalf of young people leaving school at the end of the summer term. No fees are charged, travel expenses may be claimed and parents can apply for maintenance allowance.
