The remains of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Corby, whose death we reported in our last issue, were laid to rest in the Rushden Cemetery on Monday afternoon. The first part of the service was conducted in the Park-road Baptist Church by the Rev. H. J. Horn. The organist (Mr. G. Farey), at the commencement of the service played “O for the wings of a dove” (Mendelssohn), “O rest in the Lord” (Mendelssohn), and “I know that my Redeemer liveth” (Handel), and at the conclusion of the service played the Dead March in “Saul,” the congregation standing meanwhile.

Mr. Horn, in a short address, said he could not say anything about their departed friend which those present did not know better than himself. They knew better than he that the truth of God never lacked a defender while Mrs. Corby could speak. The thing she cared for most in life was the Church of God. Her life was filled with love, and was adorned with a steadfast belief in God. The presence of God was very near her heart through all the suffering which she passed. Her life was a standing rebuke to the ungodly.

After the service the coffin was removed to the cemetery, where the Rev. H. J. Horn conducted the interment, and there was a large gathering of sympathisers.

The coffin bore the following inscription:-

The undertakers were Messrs. Clark and Sanders, and Mr. Asher Abbott supplied the coaches.
