Rushden Masons – Installation of Brother W. H. Moody as W.M.

Bro Moody
On Thursday Bro. W. H. Moody was installed Worshipful Master of the Pemberton Lodge of Free Masons at the annual banquet held at the Victoria Hotel, Rushden. Apologies were received from Lord Ampthill, Lord Lilford, Bro. T. B. Phipps, Worshipful Bros. Owen Parker, O.B.E., John Dickens, and others.

Worshipful Bro. Moody was supported by Deputy Provincial Grand Master W. T. Horton, Grand Provincial Secretary G. F. E. Wilkinson, P.A.G.D.C., Pr.G.Sec.; Bro. Samuel Blaze Wilkinson, P.G.D.C., and Worshipful Bros. H. W. Dover, F. T. Trenery, G. H. Nelson, W. J. Stanton, Dr. E. Harris Jones, Rev. H. L. B. Budge, S. F. Hipwell, C. W. Horrell, F. J. Sharwood, Harry Percival, J. T. Swallow, H. W. Ashdown, etc. Worshipful Master Moody invested the following officers: Bros. W. W. Rial, I.P.M.; O. Claridge, S.W.; B. G. Coe., Chaplin; H. W. Hobbs, treasurer; A. E. Wright, secretary; A. Ward, Director of Ceremonies; T. H. Blair, Assistant Director of Ceremonies; J. R. Horton, organist; F. Selwood, Senior Deacon; S. C. Brightwell, Junior Deacon; H. Adnitt, Inner Guard; H. O. Miller, Senior Steward; W. Durham, Junior Steward; F. T. Eaton, Junior Steward; and J. Stock, Tyler.

A splendid spread was then served by Host W. A. Evans, after which the company were entertained by the Angelus Male Quartette, Professor Goddard (ventriloquist), and Mr. J. E. Heath (a humorist at the piano).

Mr. Hobbs was for some time an overseer, and prominent in the Co-operative movement.

He can claim 48 years’ connection with Freemasonry, has held innumerable offices, and is among other distinctions, P.M.W.S. of the Rose Croix St. George of England Chapter, while the Pemberton (Rushden) Lodge recently gave him a gold watch in recognition of 25 years as treasurer.

Mr. Hobbs is also one of the oldest members of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, belonging for 58 years.
