1721 Will of Grace Sanders 


The last Will and Testament of Grace Sanders of Rushden ... ... ... my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator trusting to be saved thro the Meritts of my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ And my Body I committ to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix herein after named and as for my Estate I dispose of the same as followeth Imprimis I give and bequeath unto Thomas Ekins of Chester in the County of Northampton Esq Jeffery Fisher of Irchester in the said Count of Northampton Gent William Trigg of Irthlingborow in the said County of Northampton Gent & the Rever’d Newcome of Wimmington in the County of Bedford Clerke and their heirs the summe of three hundred & fifty pounds of good & Lawfull money of great Brittain Upon this speciall Trust & Confidence that they the said Thomas Ekins Jeffery Fisher William Trigg & Richard Newcome or the survivor of them or the heires Executors or Admin’s of the survivor of them doe as soon as Conveniently they can Lay out the said summe of three hundred & fifty pounds upon a purchase in Lands and until such purchase Can be had & made the same be put out att Interest and the Interest Rent & produce thereof by applied to such uses as is hereinafter mentioned That is to say To the use of my Grandaughter Mary Chapman as an Annuity or yearly rent for her maintenance and provision for & during the Terme of her naturall Life to be paid unto her by half yearly payments the first payment to begin & to be made within Eighteen Months after my Decease (which said summe of three hundred & fifty pounds I doe order to be paid to the said Trustees within Twelve months after my Decease by my Executrix hereinafter named And after the Decease of my said Grandaughter Mary Chapman Then the Interest rent or produce of the said summe of three hundred & fifty pounds or such Estate soe purchased thereby shall be paid by the said Trustees unto my daughter Sarah Chapman as an annuity or yearly rent for & during the Terme of her naturall Life by half yearly payments And after the Decease of my said Grandaughter Mary Chapman and my said daughter Sarah Chapman the said summe of three hundred & fifty pounds or such Estate soe purchased as aforesaid I give & devise unto the Children of my said Daughter Sarah Chapman to be equally devided between them share & share alike And my mind & will is that if my said Daughter Sarah Chapman shall survive the said May Chapman and shall make sale or assigne the said Annuity devised to her as aforesaid That then & immediately after such sale or assignement the said annuity or yearly rent to be devised shall Cease and goe & be to the use of the Children of the said Sarah Chapman as before devised Item I give & bequeath unto my Grandaughter Elizabeth Chapman the summe of one Hundred pounds Unto my Grandson William Chapman the summe of one Hundred pounds and unto my Grandson John Chapman the summe of one Hundred pounds which said severall summes I doe order to be paid to the said Trustees within Twelve months after my Decease and to be by them put out att interest and the Interest by applied for the benefit of the said Children as by the said Trustees shall be though most proper And the said Legacyes be paid to the said Children or the survivor of them when they shall attain the age of Twenty one years Item I give & bequeath unto my sister Mary Dewberry one shilling & six pence to be paid her weekly for & during the Terme of her natural Life by my Executrix and I also give & bequeath unto the said Thomas Ekins Jeffery Fisher William Trigg and Richard the summe of five pounds a peice provided they act in the Execution of the Trust aforesaid and my Mind & Will is That if any Loss shall happen in putting out to Interest the said severall Legacyes as after such loss shall be equally born by the said Legatees And if any Dispute shall arise by reason of this my Will or unnecessary  trouble or Charge be given to the said Trustees such person or persons doe disputeing shall have no benefit of this my Will All the rest of my Goods Chattells Debts & ready money I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Sanders whom I make sole Executrix of this my last Will & Testament and lastly my Mind & Will is that if my said Daughter Mary Sanders shall happen to dye without issue of her body Then I further give unto the Children of my said Daughter Sarah Chapman the summe on hundred pounds to be Equally Devided between them In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale the Twenty seventh Day of June Anno Domini 1721
