Rushden Decisions Challenged To The Central Tribunal
Rufus Bradley Jephcote, a Rushden hairdresser and tobacconist, whose claim has been dismissed by the Rushden Tribunal, asked for absolute exemption, on the ground that he would be ruined if he went into the Army. He said he was unable to be present when his appeal was before the Rushden Tribunal, a sudden rush of business keeping him at home. Appellant was married in June, 1914. The appeal was dismissed.

This shop (left) was a ladies hairdressers, at the corner of Irchester Road and W'boro Road. It was taken over by a flooring company in the 1990s, but soon closed and the site was sold, and redeveloped as a block of flats.
Snippers
Snippers hairdressers at the corner of Newton Road and Pratt Road closed in 2007 - formerly Putnam's Grocery.
Became a dog groomer's business until 2023.
