THE LICENSING BILL

At the Adult Bible Class at the Park-road Wesleyan Church on Sunday afternoon, the following resolution ws unanimously carried on the motion of Mr.H.Stanniland, seconded by Mr.Storey:- "That this meeting protests emphatically against the Licensing Bill at present before the House of Commons as being inimical to the well-being of the public, an insult to the magistracy of England, and by its compensation clauses tending to perpetuate and consolidate what has hitherto been only an annual investment."

THE LICENSING BILL

A petition to Parliament, praying for the rejection of the Licensing Bill, has been numerously signed at the Park-road Wesleyan Church. The petition expresses profound regret at the introduction of the Bill, "by which the ancient power of the local justices to refuse the renewal of licences without compensation would be taken away, and the liquor traffic would be more strongly established in the land."

PICNIC

The members of the Adult Bible Class connected with the Park-road Wesleyan Church, to the number of 95, had a very enjoyable picnic on Saturday last at Bencroft Grange, Bedford-road, by permission of Mr.Twigge.  Cricket and other games were indulged in, and tea was nicely served in orthodox picnic fashion.  After tea, the pastimes were resumed, and at 8 p.m. the party joined in singing several hymns.  The President of the class (Mr.S.Michell) took the opportunity, on behalf of the party, of thanking Mr.Twigge for the use of the field, &c.
