1940 Market Day
and Parade

Stalls included a china stall, run by the Mayoress and friends. There were many Competitions were run by some stall holders, or by employees of local firms.

Competitions inluded a talent show, and a ‘guess the number’ with donated prizes including a permanent wave, a load of wood, a bedspread, a silk cushion, a turkey for Xmas, a bottle of whiskey, etc. Games included Tennis, bowls, cricket, darts and skittles, and the day ended with a Dance at 7.30 in the Band Club.
