Jan 1st - Wednesday Took Joyce Theatre. Came home and read in bed. In bed by 9.30 p.m.
Jan 2nd - Thursday Met Harold and we took Joyce to Co-op Hall to Mother. Went for a walk - in home by 9.
Jan 3rd - Friday Did not go out. Listened in to the wireless "Cinderella" and "The Snow Queen". Curled Joyce's hair.
Jan 4th - Saturday Harold came up 3.0 p.m. Went Palace - "The Hotel Murder". Harold left 11.5 p.m. Bed 12.0 p.m.
Jan 5th - Sunday Harold came up to tea.
Jan 6th - Monday Overtime - 6. Went Brigade. Did not go until 8. Practice[d] Pantomime.
Jan 7th - Tuesday Overtime til 6. Met Harold as he was coming up. Went for a walk. Home about 8.30. Had to go home 9.45.
Jan 8th - Wednesday Overtime til 6. Went Night School. Made Cornish Treacle Tart, Ginger Nuts, Apple Fritters. Home 9.45.
Jan 9th - Thursday Overtime til 6. Poured with rain. Wind was very rough but Harold came up. Bless him. I didn't think he'd come in this rain.
Jan 10th - Friday Stopped in. Rene came across. Went bed at 9. Got a cold.
Jan 11th - Saturday Went Beginners Party. Went Theatre. Harold stopped weekend.
Jan 12th - Sunday Went bed at 8.30; Harold brought some hot milk up.
Jan 13th - Monday Did not go to work. Got a bad cold. Got up 2.15. Harold came up. Bless him, he thought he'd come up.
Jan 14th - Tuesday Got up 9.15. Went doctor's - put me on the club. Harold came up. Brought me oranges & grapes.
Jan 15th - Wednesday Got up 11 a.m. Rene came in. Went bed at 9 p.m.
Jan 16th - Thursday Got up 10.30 a.m. Snowed. Harold came up. I feel a little better but I have got the ear-ache.
Jan 17th - Friday Listened in to "Babes in the Wood" and variety.
Jan 18th - Saturday Harold came up. Went Doctor's - got to go on Tuesday. Listened in all night. Harold stopped.
Jan 19th - Sunday Got the ear-ache terribly.
Jan 20th - Monday Went out for a walk first time. Went down High Street with Ma. The King died today at 11.55 p.m. Started blue jumper.
Jan 21st - Tuesday Went down High Street with Rene. Went in her house to tea. Harold came up.
Jan 22nd - Wednesday Snowed. Went in Rene's house- stopped tea. Did some knitting
Jan 23rd - Thursday Went up Highfield Road to tea with Rene (Kate Parker). Harold came up.
Jan 24th - Friday Went out. Rene came in our house. Mother got a cold. Knitted. Book[ed] appointment for ends permed.
Jan 25th - Saturday Went Doctor's. Went off club. Went Theatre with Harold
Jan 26th - Sunday Went down Irthlingboro'.
Jan 27th - Monday Started work since my illness. Went Brigade doing Pantomime.
Jan 28th - Tuesday Went for a walk with Harold. Did some knitting.
Jan 29th - Wednesday Went cookery - made raisin rolls.
Jan 30th - Thursday Poured with rain. Harold came up. Listen[ed] in as we could not go out.
Jan 31st - Friday Went Aunt Ada's. Uncle Frank cut my hair. Made one of my frocks for pantomime.
Feb 1st - Saturday Went down Street with Ma. Bought a navy blue beret. Harold & I went Palace.
Feb 2nd - Sunday Harold came up Rushden.
Feb 3rd - Monday Went Brigade, practiced for concert.
Feb 4th - Tuesday Harold did not come up as he went to the dentist. Made a green doll.
Feb 5th - Wednesday Went to practice for pantomime.
Feb 6th - Thursday Went down Irthlingboro' & Harold came back with me.
Feb 7th - Friday Took Rene down street. Patty is here for the night.
Feb 8th - Saturday Went Theatre. Went down High Street with Aunt Clara.
Feb 9th - Sunday Went down Irthlingboro'.
Feb 10th - Monday Went Brigade. Practiced. Did not get home until 10 o'clock.
Feb 11th - Tuesday Made one of my dresses for pantomime. Harold went and had some teeth out.
Feb 12th - Wednesday Went cookery with Joan.
Feb 13th - Thursday Harold came up. Went for a little walk. He has had four teeth out.
Feb 14th - Friday Valentine's Day. Went down Simpson's and bought a fawn costume and hat to match. Made a blue doll.
Feb 15th - Saturday Went up Northampton with Harold to see about his mouth. Went Theatre.
Feb 16th - Sunday Harold came up. Went Chapel.
Feb 17th - Monday Went Chapel. Robert Eaton. Eileen Polcher.
Feb 18th - Tuesday Harold had a tooth out. Went down Irthlingboro'.
Feb 19th - Wednesday Went cookery - made pork pies.
Feb 20th - Thursday Harold came up - only stop[ped] 1 hour - got a bad face.
Feb 21st - Friday Went down high Street. Booked Theatre.
Feb 22nd - Saturday Went Theatre.

Feb 24th - Monday Went practice for Panto.
Feb 25th - Tuesday Practice.
Feb 26th - Wednesday First night of Panto. It was a great success.
Feb 27th - Thursday Second night of Panto. Harold's mother came, Aunt Elsie & Mother.
Feb 28th - Friday Went and booked Theatre. Went down High Street with Rene.
Feb 29th - Saturday Rained. Went Theatre - "Woman Wanted".
March 1st - Sunday Harold came up.
March 2nd - Monday Went Brigade - Youth Week. Got home about 9.30.
March 3rd - Tuesday Harold came up. Finished going dentist's. Mother went dance.
March 4th - Wednesday Went cookery with Joan.
March 5th - Thursday Harold came up. Went up Newton Road for a walk.
March 6th - Friday Went down High St with Rene.
March 7th - Saturday Went Theatre. Harold stopping the weekend.

March 9th - Monday Went down Swart's about a new pair of specs. Did not go Brigade - not very well.

March 12th - Thursday Harold and I went for a little walk. He has got a cold. Had new pair of specs.

March 14th - Saturday Went up New Theatre - Johnson Clark in "Western Bro" with Aunt Elsie in a car.

March 19th - Thursday Harold came up but it rained so we could not go out.
March 20th - Friday Went up Dora's - stayed until 9.30. Aunt Mary & June came.
March 21st - Saturday Went Palace - Shirley Temple in "Our Little Girl".
March 22nd - Sunday Harold came up to tea.
March 23rd - Monday Went Brigade. Practiced for Panto.
March 24th - Tuesday Harold came up. Went for a walk.

March 31st - Tuesday Went work. Did not go out. Did not feel very well. Went bed soon after tea. I thought Harold would come up but he didn't. (Harold on overtime 7.30)

April 3rd - Friday Went down Street. Bought Win Freeman a wedding present - a fancy jug.
April 4th - Saturday Went Theatre.
April 5th - Sunday Harold came up.

April 7th - Tuesday Iced birthday cake.
April 8th - Wednesday Did the Panto.
April 9th - Thursday My Birthday. Went down Irthlingboro'. Harold sent me a reger Letter £1. [?a registered letter with £1 inside?]
April 10th - Friday Margaret's birthday. Went to meet Elsie & Lucy from Irchester station. Went Palace - Cicely Courtenedge in "Mr Marlborough".
April 11th - Saturday Went Theatre - "Ariosonger Old Faithful" [?]
April 12th - Sunday Went up Aunt Ada's tea. Elsie & I went down Street.
April 13th - Monday Went up Aunt Clara's with Elsie & Lucy.
April 14th - Tuesday Elsie & Lucy went back. Harold & I went Theatre.

April 16th - Thursday Went London with Dad, Ma & Geo. Toured London. Got home about 10.30.

April 27th - Monday Went football match - Rushden v Northampton Town 3-2. Went Brigade.
April 28th - Tuesday Harold came up. Went thro' the fields for a walk.
April 29th - Wednesday Went visiting with Rene and her mother.
April 30th - Thursday Harold came up. Ma went Kettering.
May 1st - Friday Went down Street with Renie.
May 2nd - Saturday Went over Mrs Kilsby's & took some flowers. Went Irthlingboro' Palace.
May 3rd - Sunday Went down Irthlingboro'.
May 4th - Monday Left off from work at 4.30. Washed my hair. Went Brigade. Went bed 10.0.
May 5th - Tuesday Appointed for ends permed. Harold & I went for a walk through the fields.
May 6th - Wednesday Left off 4.15. Stopped in - dusted three bedrooms. Did some knitting.
May 7th - Thursday Left off 4.15. Harold & I went for a walk. Listened to Sandy Powell on the wireless.
May 8th - Friday Went down Street with Rene. Put my hair in curls. Went to bed 9.30.
May 9th - Saturday I year today by the day since I met Harold. Bless him. (I love him, I love him) 100000000 times. Went Palace - "39 steps".

Brigade - went Parade. Harold came up.
May 11th - Monday 1 year since Harold & I met. Harold to have his teeth fitted. Went Brigade.
May 12th - Tuesday Had half a day. Went up Win's tea. Then ent down Irthlingboro'. Walk[ed] back through fields.
May 13th - Wednesday Help[ed] Mother do the passage. Went up Aunt Elsie's - took skirt to be altered.
May 14th - Thursday Harold came up early. Went for a walk thro' the fields.
May 15th - Friday Rene & I went down Street. Went up Dora Garrod's - stopped 'til 9.45.
May 16th - Saturday Had half a day. Rene & I went down Street. Opening of Jack White's Bandstand. Went Theatre - "Here Comes the Band".
May 17th - Sunday Went down Irthlingboro'. Got home about 9.30.
May 18th - Monday Parents night. Came home about 10.45. Did Dancing & Fancy March
May 19th - Tuesday Did no go till 8.00. Harold had his teeth. He looks swell. Did some knitting. Harold & I wetn up Aunt Elsie's.
May 20th - Wednesday Came home at 4. Dusted bedroom. Liseten[ed] in. Did some knitting. Harold went Doctor's with his hands.
May 21st - Thursday Harold came up. Went up Aunt Ada's. I was in bed by 10.
May 22nd - Friday Went down Street with Rene. Put up hair in curl. Had half a day.
May 23rd - Saturday Went doctor's with my eye. Went Theatre - two pictures - "Dr Socrates" & "Charing Cross Road".
May 24th - Sunday Park Road Wesleyan Brigade Sunday.
May 25th - Whit Monday Went Brigade. Listen to Panto. Having Cinderella.
May 26th - Tuesday Harold came up. Went for a walk.
May 27th - Wednesday Had a perm - Marcel Wave. Harold came up and he was a bad boy.

May 30th - Saturday Awoke at 6.15. Went Long Eaton. Went Scala - "She Married her Boss" - Claudet Colbert & Melvyn Douglas.
May 31st - Sunday Went to Derby - 12 of us all went togther.
June 1st - Monday Rain. Went Nottingham. Ernie, Billy, Marian & band - 14 of us.
June 2nd - Tuesday Rained. Elsie & I went Scala - "Hollywood Party".
June 3rd - Wednesday Lucy first Jumper. Went Nottingham. Had a storm. Bought a new Hand Bag. Arrived home 6.40.
June 4th - Thursday Went Theatre - "The Girl Friend" & "Public Menace". Harold went about 10.35.
June 5th - Friday Mother & I spring cleaned the Front Room. I went down Irth' at 7. Harold came back. Put hair in curl.
June 6th - Saturday Harold came to tea. Cut my frock out. Went Palace - "While Parents Sleep".

June 8th - Monday Went Brigade. Did some tap dancing.

August 3rd - Bank Holiday Monday Went down beach & Harold & I on "Speed" and 3 turns. Regal.
August 4th - Tuesday Had photos taken. Went to the Regent - Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire in "…….. Fleet".
August 5th - Wednesday Went down the beach, up the Pleasure Beach. Went to see the Britannia Revellers.
August 6th - Thursday Rained. Went Hippodrome. Only 3 numbers off prize. Went Pleasure Beach.
August 7th - Friday Harold & I went shopping. Went up Pleasure Beach.
August 8th - Saturday Bought a new coat & dress. Came up Harold's - stopped the night.

August 22nd - Saturday Harold & I went Northampton New Theatre. Saw Bert Yarlett of Henry Hall's Band. Good.

August 25th - Tuesday Harold came up. Went for a walk & up Aunt Clara's.
August 26th - Wednesday I went up Aunt Clara's for Mum. Came home & dusted my bedroom.
August 27th - Thursday Harold came up. Went for a walk. Started on sleeve of jumper.
August 28th - Friday Rene & I went down street & up her Aunt's up Higham Hill. Got home about 8.30.
August 29th - Saturday Opening of Highfield [Baptist Church]. Mum & Dad went Long Eaton. Harold stopped weekend. He was sick! Went Palace - Dick Powell "Thanks a Million".

Oct 22nd - Thursday Harold's Brirthday. Harold did not come up. He had to work overtime. Went for a walk on my own.
Oct 23rd - Friday Listened in. Washed my hair.
Oct 24th - Saturday Went football Match Rushden v Biggleswade 2-2. Harold & I went Palace - Tom Walls in "Pot Lot".
Oct 25th - Sunday Harold & I went Chapel.
Oct 26th - Monday Went Brigade. Mrs Fox taught us to do a dance for Panto.
Oct 27th - Tuesday Had my Hair Permed. Harold did not come up. Rained.

Went British Legion Meeting.

Oct 29th - Thursday Harold came up. Went for a walk. I felt ever so awkward but I don't know what for.
Oct 30th - Friday Went down Irthlingboro'. Harold's Mother ill. Took some flowers down.
Oct 31st - Saturday Went Palace - Will Fife in "King of Hearts".
Nov 1st - Sunday Brigade Sunday.
Nov 2nd - Monday Went Brigade. Did Panto.
Nov 3rd - Tuesday Harold came up. Went for a walk.
Nov 4th - Wednesday Went up Windmill … with Kath.
Nov 5th - Thursday Harold came up. Went for a walk.
Nov 6th - Friday Rained. Put hair in curl. Finished Aunt Clara's Jumper.
Nov 7th - Saturday Went Palace - Nora Poll… in "Tudor Rose" - very good.
Nov 8th - Sunday Went up Aunt Elsie's Tea - Harold & I.
Nov 9th - Monday Went Brigade. Did Panto without book.
Nov 10th - Tuesday Harold came up. Went for a walk. Very cold.
Nov 11th - Wednesday Went Palace by myself. Paul Robeson, Leslie Banks in "Sanders of the River".
Nov 12th - Thursday Went down Irthlingboro'. Harold's Mother not well. Harold came back with me.
Nov 13th - Friday Kath & I went up Co-op Hall - Cooking Demonstration. All right - good laugh.
Nov 14th - Saturday Went Palace. Joel McCrea, Miriam Hopkins in "Splendour".
Nov 15th - Sunday Went down Irthlingboro'.
Nov 16th - Monday Went Brigade. Did dance in Panto.
Nov 17th - Tuesday Harold came up. Went for a walk.
Nov 18th - Wednesday Had half day. Done some odd jobs. Listened in to fight - Foord lost to R….
Nov 19th - Thursday Harold did come up. Stopped in. Listened to Henry Hall.
Nov 20th - Friday Went Irthlingboro'.
Nov 21st - Saturday Had half day. Went Palace - Warner Baxter in "The Prisoner at Shark Island".
Nov 22nd - Sunday Davy's came & went back about 9.30.
Nov 23rd - Monday Went Brigade. Did Infant Welfare all night.
Nov 24th - Tuesday Harold came up. We went up Aunt Clara's
Nov 25th - Wednesday Got a cold. Went bed early. Had a hot drink.
Nov 26th - Thursday Harold did not come up. I sat in Front Room all night and went bed 9.15.
Nov 27th - Friday Went work 9.0. Harold came up. Went doctor's for a bottle of medicine.
Nov 28th - Saturday Harold came up. Did not go Pictures. Stopped in. Started Georgie's Pullover.
Nov 29th - Sunday Harold came up.
Nov 30th - Monday Went Brigade. Panto. Knitted.
Dec 1st - Tuesday Stopped in the front Room all night. Got a cold. Harold did not come up.
Dec 2nd - Wednesday Stopped in. Went bed early.
Dec 3rd - Thursday Harold came up. Went for a walk.
Dec 4th - Friday Stopped in. Listened in.
Dec 5th - Saturday Harold & I went Ritz - Charlie Chaplin in "Modern Times".

Dec 12th - Saturday Harold & I went Ritz - Madeline Carrol in "The Secret Agent" with Robert Young.
Dec 13th - Sunday Harold came up to tea.
Dec 14th - Monday Went Brigade. Did Panto. Did my part without book.
Dec 15th - Tuesday Harold did not come up. Stop[ped] in. Did some knitting.
Dec 19th - Saturday Harold & I went to Hazel Child's 21st Birthday. Had a nice time.
Dec 20th - Sunday Went down Irthlingboro'. Harold's Mother bought me some fish knives & forks.
Dec 21st - Monday Went down High Street with Kath. Bought a few things.
Dec 22nd - Tuesday Went down street with Mother.
Dec 23rd - Wednesday Went down street with Kath. Bought a few things.
Dec 24th - Thursday Harold came up at last. Went Ritz - Gordon Harker & Red Sparkes in ---.
Dec 25th - Friday Went up Aunt Ada's dinner & tea. Had a nice time. Got home about 12.20.
Dec 26th - Saturday Went to see Northampton 4 play Swindon 0. Harold and I went Theatre - "Rose Marie".
