In aid of the Institute purchase fund a delightful function took place on Wednesday in the pleasant grounds of: "Ormidale," by the kindness of Mr. and Mrs. Putnam. About 50 partook of tea under shade of the fine old trees, the tea being given by Mrs. Putnam, Mrs. Newton, and Mrs. Everingham. A whist drive followed. Winners: 1. Miss Constance Selwood; consolation, Mrs. Allen. Master Stuart Putnam was M.C.

A long-felt want was supplied by the opening, last Thursday, of a new young men’s institute in connection with St. Mary’s Church, Rushden. The building, which stands in the Rectory Field, and is reached from the Robinson-road, is of ample but serviceable pattern, and was designed by Mr. F. E. Preston, of Rushden, and constructed by Messrs. Packwood and Son. Mr. Owen Parker, M.P., was the chief speaker at the opening ceremony.

We give an exterior picture of ’Stute, also an interesting group taken on the opening day.
