Rowthorn's at the north end of High Street and Station Road, was noted for high-class furnishings,
and gradually extended their premises to cope with the yearly increase in trade.

We can find no confirmation of the dates they traded.
They appear in 1969 County Register, and an advert in the 1964 Operatic Programme.

Plans were passed in 1956 for the new window displays
