Tel. G E Morrice
Mentioned in Dispatches
New Year Honour for Rushden Sailor

Tel. G E Morrice
It was announced on Saturday that Tel T O George Edward Morrice, whose home is at 17, Montague Street, Rushden, has been mentioned in naval dispatches.

Tel. Morrice is aged 32, and married Miss Joan Parker, of Rushden, in 1938, when he was employed as a pattern cutter by Messrs C W Horrell Ltd, boot manufacturers. He joined the navy in June, 1941, and has had 13 months’ service afloat, mainly on an escort vessel.
A communicant of St Mary’s Church, he is an ex-student of the Rushden Boot and Shoe School.

Though he visited Rushden on Christmas leave, returning to duty on December 28th, he gave no hint that he might be receiving an honour, and his wife was very pleasantly surprised when the “Echo and Argus” informed her of his distinction.
