Instantaneous Death

It is with regret that we report that Mrs H A Neville of 38, Moor-road, Rushden has received unofficial news of the dearth in action of her husband, Pte Herbert Allen Neville, of the Machine Gun Corps. A comrade, Pte Cowper, of Desborough, writes that Pte Neville was killed instantaneous on the morning of September 26th, and that he was given a decent burial the same night. Pte Cowper returned the deceased soldier's pocket book.

The late Pte Neville, who was formerly in the employ of Messrs. Skeeles & Sons, boot manufacturer, Rushden, was a son of Mr J Neville, bespoke boot manufacturer, Robinson-road, Rushden, and a brother Mr W J A Neville, newspaper agent and tobacconist, High-street, Rushden. The deceased soldier joined the Northants Regiment last January and proceeded to the Western front in July.
