Killed in Action - Rushden Mother Loses Son

The sad news of the loss of her only son, Pte. James Edward (Bruce) Mortimer, was conveyed to Mrs. H. Binder, of 8, Chester-road, Rushden, by the War Records Office on Wednesday week. The message stated that Pte. Mortimer had been killed in action in the Middle East theatre of war on August 1st.

Aged 19, he had been in the Army for just over a year and had gone abroad in June of this year. The last letter his mother received from him was written from North Africa.

Prior to call-up he was employed by P.X. Ltd., as a night loader.

Mrs. Binder also has a daughter.
