Died in hospital - Rushden Sapper who was serving in India
A Rushden soldier serving in India, Sapper John Henry Houghton, R.E. died in hospital there from acute leukaemia on June 2nd. The news was communicated to his sister, Mrs W Wooding of 2 Grove Road, Rushden, on Wednesday.
Sapper Houghton was the only son of the late Mr & Mrs H E Houghton and been in the Army for three and a half years. Three years ago he went to the Middle East and served at Tobruk, then going on to India. He was 30 years of age and a former employee of Messrs Bignells Ltd. Boot Manufacturers.
