Rushden Soldier Killed in Action
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Cumberpatch of 213, Wellingborough-road, Rushden, were informed on Thursday that their only son, Pte. Jack Cumberpatch, of an infantry regiment, had been killed in action in Normandy.
Pte. Cumberpatch was 20 years of age, and had been in the Army since October, 1942. Formerly he worked for Messrs. A. Allebone Ltd., boot manufacturers and belonged to the Home Guard. He used to play football for the Adult School, and was a member of the Windmill Club. As a boy he attended South End School.
