Son of Henry Cave of 24 Oswald Road, Albert enlisted on 6th November 1915 aged 22 years and 1 month. He worked as a shoe hand, was 5' 5½" tall, weighed 112 pounds, chest 33" (2" expansion), and was of fair physical development.

On 21st April 1916 he joined the 7th Battalion and was posted to France on 29th March 1916. He was posted as missing on 17th August 1916 and was later deemed to have been killed in action on that day.

Rushden Soldier Injured - Private Albert Cave - News Wanted

Mr and Mrs H Cave, of 24, Oswald-road, Rushden, have received news that their son, Pte Albert Cave, 22441, Northants Regt, was wounded in action on Aug. 17-18, but no information is given as to his whereabouts. Any news would be welcomed by Pte Cave's parents.

Rushden Soldier's Fate - Death of Pte Albert Cave

Mr and Mrs H Cave, of 24 Oswald-road, Rushden, have now received official news concerning their son, Albert, who has been missing since August 18th, 1916. He was 23 years of age, and was one of Captain Stocken's recruits. Before enlisting he worked for Messrs. Allebone and Sons, boot manufacturer.

Mr and Mrs Cave have three other sons with the Forces - Pte G Cave, who has been a prisoner in Germany for nearly three years; Pte A Cave, RAMC; and Pte H Cave, Beds Regiment. The two latter are in France.
