Born at Daventry.
In the 1891 Census this family is recorded as BRIDGEFORD. His father George Britchford was born at Little Addington in 1847 and his mother Ann was born at Daventry in 1852. They had Mary Jane, George, Josiah, John (Jack), and Charles whilst they were living at Daventry, but they moved to Rushden in about 1888 where Edward and William were added to the family.

Pte. Jack Britchford, Northants Regt., brother of Mrs T. Burfield, of 141, Queen-street, Rushden, has been officially reported as killed in action on June 8th. Pte. Britchford joined the Army in October 1914, and had been in France three years. He was 36 years of age. Mrs. Burfield has four other brothers serving, of whom Pte. George Britchford was taken prisoner last March. Her son, Pte. Edgar Burfield, is also serving.
