Rushden Soldier Killed in Action

Pte. Horace Baldrey, Northamptonshire Regiment, of 53, King’s-road, Rushden, who, as reported in the “Evening Telegraph” on Saturday, was killed in action in North Africa. He had been on foreign service since November of last year, and is married.

It is officially reported that Pte. Horace Baldrey of the Northamptonshire Regiment, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Baldrey, of 52, King’s-road, Rushden, has been killed in action in North Africa.

Pte. Baldrey had been serving since June, 1940, and went overseas last November. He was formerly employed by Messrs. Allebone and Sons, boot manufacturers, and was a member of the Rushden Athletic Club. His wife is residing with her parents at Huntingdon, and there is a son aged one year.

Mr. and Mrs. E. Baldrey’s eldest son, William, was killed in France in 1918, and the second has been serving with the R.A.F. in Rhodesia for two years.
