Rushden’s Veteran Military Career

We print a portrait of Pte. George Emerson Greaves, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Greaves, of Washbrook-road, Rushden, who has put in a very long period of service. He is 48 years of age, and is now in India serving with the 24th Rifle Brigade. He was 13 years 123 days in the Volunteers. Five years with the Militia, and joined the regular forces in October 1914. He did twelve months guarding railway bridges in England, and then went to India, where he is now doing garrison duty.
