Mentioned In Dispatches
Rushden Airman Honoured In Middle East

Another Rushden boy serving on the office staff at an R.A.F. base in the Middle East has been mentioned in dispatches.  He is Cpl. Ronald Elkington, R.A.F.V.R., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Elkington, of 85, Portland-road, Rushden.

Cpl. Elkington mentioned something of a possible award at the beginning of the year, and it now transpires that he was gazetted on January 11th.

Aged 23 years, Cpl. Elkington is an old boy of the Wellingborough Grammar School and formerly was employed on the office staff of the Ideal Clothiers at Wellingborough and was a member of the Rushden Home Guard.  He has had over three years’ service with the R.A.F. and went overseas 18 months ago.  News of his promotion to Corporal was received on Saturday.
