The Rushden Echo, 11th June, 1943, transcribed by Gill Hollis
Rushden Lady Honoured for R.A.F. Service
Royal Red Cross

Miss W. M. Cave, a former superintendent of the Rushden St. John Nursing Division, has been appointed an Associate of the Royal Red Cross in recognition of her war work in Princess Mary’s R.A.F. Nursing Service.

Daughter of the late Mr. Amos Cave and sister of Mr. Reginald Cave, of High-street, Rushden, Miss Cave was trained at Northampton General Hospital and served with the R.A.F. in Bagdad some years ago. She has been on duty throughout the war, and now ranks as Acting Senior Sister. It is believed that the decoration announced this week rewards her devotion to duty in an air raid.
