OBITUARY We regret to record the death, which took place yesterday morning after a protracted illness, of Mr. Wm. Wright, of 25, Montague-street. The deceased gentleman, who was 66 years of age, had been a great sufferer from an internal complaint for the past twelve months, and in December last underwent an operation, which however, did not have the desired result, with the exception of prolonging Mr. Wright’s life. He had been confined to his bed for the past six months, but bore his pain with remarkable patience and fortitude. The late Mr. Wright for some years was a member of the Rushden Adult School, and he was also one of the pioneers of the Co-operative movement in Rushden, serving for some considerable time on the committee of that society. He was a member of a well-known family, the members of which, although originating from Dean, have resided in Rushden for the greater part of their lives.
The late Mr. Wm. Wright was a brother of Messrs. Amos, Eli, and James Wright, and he was well known and highly respected throughout the neighbourhood. He leaves a widow and three sons to mourn their loss. One son, Company-Sergt.-Major Thomas Wright, of the Middlesex Regiment, is in Edmonton Military Hospital, suffering from wounds, and another, Mr. Ralph Wright, has been discharged from the Colours as a result of wounds received in April, 1917. The other son is in the United States.
