Rushden Echo and Argus Friday 30th June 1922, transcribed by Susan Manton
Mrs. Whittemore

The death took place on Sunday afternoon of Mrs. Whittemore, wife of Mr. Frederick Whittemore, of Bencroft Grange, Bedford Road, and formerly of the Dial Farm, Rushden. Deceased was 71 years of age and she and her husband had resided in the parish of Rushden for about 40 years. Mrs. Whittemore leaves, in addition to a widower, one daughter (Mrs. Lamb of Bungay, Suffolk) and one son (Mr. W. Whittemore, farmer and dairyman of Bencroft Grange Farm.) Held in high esteem by those with whom she was brought into association, the deceased lady will be much missed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She was a regular attendant of St. Mary’s Church while her health permitted her to get about. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, the rector (Rev. P. E. Robson) officiating. A short service was held in St. Mary’s Church, the deceased’s favourite hymn “Our Blessed Redeemer” being sung. Mr. J. Enos Smith, presiding at the organ, played very feelingly as the congregation left the church “O Rest in the Lord” (Elijah.) The Rector conducted the committal service at the cemetery.
