Rushden Echo, 22nd February 1918
Mr. William Richardson

OBITUARY – We deeply regret to record the death, which took place last Friday at 11.45 p.m., at 13, Co-operative-row, of Mr. William Richardson, at the age of 52 years.  He was taken ill about nine weeks ago, whilst at work in his shop at home, and immediately took to his bed.  Pneumonia was then diagnosed, and the sufferer never rallied, being taken considerably worse last Wednesday.  The deceased, who was a native of Northampton, was well known in Rushden, having lived in the town for 30 years.  Prior to his illness he had been in the employ of Mr. Ebenezer Wrighton for many years.  In a letter of condolence to the widow, Mr. Wrighton says, “We should like to say that we had in Mr. Richardson a faithful workman, and desire to show an appreciation of the long service he has been able to render in our employ.”  Mrs. Richardson has received many other letters of condolence.  The late Mr. Richardson leaves a widow, three sons, and five daughters.  The funeral took place on Tuesday at the cemetery, the Rev. Harry Shaw officiating.  The coffin, of polished elm with brass fittings, bore the inscription:-
