Rushden Echo, 21st January 1910, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mr Samuel Croot
Sad Occurrence at Rushden – Sudden Death

Considerable sympathy is felt for the family of Mr Samuel Croot, of Rushden, who passed away suddenly yesterday at 11a.m. at his residence in Glassbrook-road, from inflammation of the bowels.

Mr Croot, who was employed by the Rushden Industrial Co-operative Society as baker, was at work for the whole day on Wednesday, when he was apparently in his usual health. At about 7.30p.m. he went to the polling station and recorded his vote, and was returning home when he was seized with violent pains when passing Messrs Cave’s factory. Upon arriving home he immediately took to his bed from which he never rose again, passing away yesterday about 11a.m.

Deceased who was 60 years of age, leaves a widow, three sons, and two daughters. One of the sons is the well-known footballer.
