Rushden Echo, 4th May 1923, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mrs. Susan Mahalah Collins

Death of Mrs. Collins—Many friends will hear with deep regret of the death which occurred just after midnight on Monday, of Mrs. Susan Mahalah Collins, aged 51, widow of the late Mr. Percy Collins, Gladstone House, Griffith-street, Rushden. About twelve months ago, Mrs. Collins having been unwell, a specialist was called in, and later on there was a distinct improvement from the treatment, Mrs. Collins being able to get about to perform her domestic duties. A few months ago she suffered a relapse, and she had to keep to her bed since Easter, the trouble being pernicious anaemia. Every sympathy is felt with the two sons and four daughters who are left. The second son, Mr. Luther Collins, is in Australia, having left home in February this year. As he is travelling up-country, it will be some time before the sad news can reach him. The late Mrs. Collins was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tompkins, of Stagsden, Beds. Mrs. Collins was a member of the Park-road Baptist Church, Rushden, of the Dorcas Society connected with that Church. She had also served on the committee of the Rushden Women’s Liberal Association. Mr. P. Collins passed away twelve years ago last November. The funeral of Mrs. Collins will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 11.30a.m. at the Park-road Baptist Church. The sons and daughters of the late Mrs. Collins wish to express their sincere thanks to all the many kind friends who have sent messages of sympathy in their great bereavement.
