Mr. Charles Frederick Chapman, whose photographs of local events appeared for many years in the “Rushden Echo and Argus” and allied newspapers, died suddenly on Sunday evening at his home, 29 Crabb Street, Rushden. He was 71.

In addition to his photographic work Mr. Chapman was a skilled cabinet maker. He gave up photography during the last major war and retired six years ago. Born at Thrapston, he served with the Army in France during the 1914-18 war and became a member of the British Legion. He served on the committee of Rushden Working Men’s Club, and was a keen gamester.

Mr. Chapman’s wife died five years ago. A daughter, Mrs. Margaret Cave, a sister, Mrs. Alice Town, and a brother, Mr. Tom Chapman, are bereaved.

The funeral took place at Kettering Crematorium on Wednesday.
