Fanny Boulton's child

INQUEST—An inquest was held at the Vestry Hall on Thursday evening before Mr. T. Cook, deputy-coroner, on the body of the male child of Fanny Boulton.
The grandmother of the child, Mrs. Clayton, said the child was born on Monday It appeared healthy, but it died on Tuesday. She did not think it necessary to call in a doctor. Her daughter had had three children before, all of whom were alive.—Rhoda Pettit, midwife, having given evidence, Dr. C. R. Owen said he came to the conclusion from examining the body that death resulted from suffocation. The mother told him that the child had been lying in bed with her, and when she looked she found it dead.—The jury returned a verdict of death from suffocation.
