Ladds Family


Benjamin Ladds was born in 1868, the second son of John and Mary. His wife, Ida Elizabeth (nee Selby) was born 1868 at Oakham RUT. They married in 1894. Daughter Ida Ethel was born 1895, Benjamin Hugh was born 1897, Alice Marjorie in 1901, Muriel May born 1905, and John Alan born 1908.

The family was home was at 33 Moor Road, next to the factory.

Alice died aged just 10 in 1912. She was buried in Rushden Cemetery and her parents were later buried alongside her, in Grave B736/7:

In ever loving memory of Marjorie the dearly loved daughter of Benjamin & Ida E. LADDS who passed peacefully away January 24th 1912 aged 10 years & 11 months. Peace, Perfect Peace.
In loving memory of Benjamin LADDS Dec 17 1868 - Nov 26 1938 "Until the morning dawns and the shadows flee away".
Also of Ida Elizabeth LADDS widow of the above born July 13 1868 died Jan 11 1953. In heavenly love abiding.

Hugh & Grace married in 1924
Benjamin Hugh Ladds married Grace Evelyn Tailby in 1924

Benjamin Hugh enlisted in 1915 and he served in WWI as a Gunner, being given a commission in 1916. After the war Hugh returned to work alongside his father in the family buisness. He married Grace Evelyn Tailby (born 1899), daughter of George Tailby and Sarah in 1924.
