The marriage was solemnised at St. Mary’s Church, Rushden, on Saturday of Miss Evelyn Sayer, the well-known soprano, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Sayer, of 63, Harborough-road, Rushden, and Mr. Cyril Husthwaite, youngest son of the late Mr. Geo. Husthwaite and Mrs. Husthwaite, of Albion House, Higham Ferrers.  The Rector (Rev. P. Robson) officiated.  The bride was given away by her father, and was attended by two bridesmaids, viz., Miss Hilda Sayer (sister of the bride) and Miss Annie Bunning (friend of the bride).  The duties of best man were discharged by Mr. Percy Husthwaite (brother of the bridegroom).  The service was fully choral, the choir boys being in attendance.  The hymns comprised “How welcome was the call” and “May the grace of Christ”; and Psalm 128, “Blessed are all they,” was chanted.  Mr. J. E. Smith was at the organ, and contributed appropriate music as the guests assembled, including “Arietta” (Coleridge Taylor), “Serenade” (Cyril Thome), “Procession to the Minster” (Wagner), “Le Soir” (Gabriel Dover).  As the bride and bridegroom left the Church he played Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March.”  Subsequent to the ceremony a reception was held at the B.W.T.A. Hall.  Mr. and Mrs. Husthwaite were the recipients of numerous and costly presents.  The bridal veil was lent by Mrs. Bernard Tomkins (sister of the bridegroom). Schoolroom, at which the Rev. H. Shaw gave a very timely-phrased address, and at which there were forty or fifty guests, the happy pair went off to Leicester to spend a few days before the bridegroom rejoins his regiment.  The workpeople at Messrs. Jaques and Son’s factory, where the bride was employed, presented her with an eiderdown quilt and two table-spoons.  The bouquets were the gift of the bridegroom.
