Mr. George Hustwaite
Headmaster of the General School 1872-1877

Wellingborough News, 13th May 1882, transcribed by Kay Collins

AN OLD RUSHDEN TEACHER—We extract the following paragraph from the Bideford Weekly Gazette in reference to Mr. Hustwaite, who was formerly schoolmaster at Rushden:—"Buckland Brewer—There is a universal feeling of regret through this parish at the recent removal of Mr. Hustwaite, the much respected master of the Board Schools. To mark their esteem the children presented him with a handsome teapot, and the parishioners a cruet stand, half dozen teaspoons, and sugar tongs. Mr. Inspector Codd made the presentation at the schoolroom, and in doing so spoke very highly of Mr. Hustwaite's qualifications as a master, and assured him that he carried the good wishes of the whole parish with him. In his new sphere of labour he felt sure he would win the same good opinion he had won at Buckland Brewer."
