Attired in white lace, trimmed with satin and pink rosebuds, with shoulder veil, Miss Dorothy Joan Knighton was married at St Peter’s Church, Rushden, on Saturday, to Mr John Lewis Ian Hart. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs S Knighton, of 60, Moor-road, Rushden, and Mr Hart is the youngest son of Mrs S Hart and the late Mr Hart, of 19, High-street, Wymington.
The ceremony was conducted by the Vicar, the Rev P Barwell Spriggs. Given away by her father, the bride carried a bouquet of pale pink rosebuds. There were three bridesmaids. The two elder, Miss Marjorie Knighton (sister of the bride), and Miss Mary Hart (sister of the bridegroom), wore dresses of mauve taffeta with mauve floral headdresses and carried muffs with sprays of Parma violets. The youngest, little Miss Barbara Taylor, of Wardington, Banbury (bride’s cousin), was in pink flowered taffeta and carried a posy of freesias. All wore crucifixes, gifts of the bridegroom.
Mr Leonard Hart, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man, and Mr W P Jolley was the organist, accompanying the hymn “Lead us Heavenly Father, lead us.”
After a reception at the bride’s home, the couple left for their honeymoon, which is being spent at Westcliff-on-sea, the bride travelling in a pink three-piece with fur and brown accessories.
Gifts included cutlery from the staff of Messrs John Cave and Sons. On their return Mr and Mrs Hart will reside at 60, Moor-road, Rushden.
Cars for the wedding were supplied by Messrs Wadsworth Bros.
